In the first meeting with the director… a murder-criminal character sees murder as art. He asked for a song in the background.

Actor Vishwanth said, “Director Rahul Kabali was the first person who called me for this movie after watching the movie Kabali. Called by phone. I went to his office. He is essentially an international painter. His office was colorfully filled with paintings. They read the script of the film. While reading it was clear that this is not a typical Tamil film. After reading, they did a small test shoot. I did it naturally. Directed by Rahul Kabali, I invited you after seeing your performance in Kabali In that film, you played a lively role with the leader. He said that this character also needs a similar performance.

In this film, my character travels along with the main character, Jagadish. Who plays the role of Jagadish? I asked. He said he is a talented actor. It was only after going to the shooting site that the talented actor came to be known as Guru Somasundaram. It was a joyous experience to work with an acting legend like him.

I usually get the scenes I’m acting okay in the first or second take. The shooting took place in a theater set up in Pondicherry for this film. The director cut after five and a half minutes of the first shot. After that I thought this shot was ok. Guru Somasundaram said he can shoot that scene again. The next take went to six and a half minutes. That too was not satisfactory. Again the next take.. this time it went up to eight minutes. Not satisfied. The next take also lasted for nine and a half minutes. Not satisfied with that. After that the tag went on for fifteen minutes straight that evening. That was what satisfied the director. Guru Somasundaram and I have acted in a single take. I thank the director for this. The director has clearly planned the scenes to such an extent. When you see this on screen, it will be a new venture that has never been done in Tamil cinema. The film crew is carrying out this international standard effort.

Music composer of the film M. S. Praveen said, “On August 15, Independence Day, all the students were gathered in the school. The teachers ask me to sing on stage in front of the students. But I could not sing. Then the teacher encouraged me, ‘even if not today, someday you will sing well’ and left. But for me it was a huge failure. They spent the first day training for the stage. I got on the stage and got off without singing a single line. Because of this, I thought that I had nothing to do with the music.
A few days later I was staying at the hostel. Then someone was playing an old harmonica. I was having fun with it. He looked at me and asked if I was playing. I said no, it was too far for me and music, and I continued to listen to his playing. He played for a while and went out. Then I started playing the harmonium. My fingers automatically started playing the harmonium in tune with the devotional song being played in the nearby temple. It was only at one point that I noticed it and felt that music would come to me too. That’s when my musical journey began. My parents said, ‘Learn music. But never give up your studies.’

After completing college, I thought I could achieve something in music. It was then that he met and became friends with lyricist Deva. We started making songs together. Then we started meeting film directors and asking for opportunities. One day we met director Shaji Salim during the release of ‘Ratchasan’. When he asked for the opportunity, he first listened to our songs. He heard a song on repeat and said, “This place is great. This line is good” he kept praising. Appreciation for an artist is the energy to make him perform better.

After that, many songs were created by me and Deva together. Director Shaji Saleem will listen to all the songs and share his views. After a six-year search, he was offered the opportunity to compose music for his directorial film ‘Lantar’. When we composed the first song for the film and presented it to him, he gave us a faint smile and we knew we had hit it off. After that we composed four songs for the film. He emphasizes the lyrics in every song. Shree Vishnu helped the film’s music. His little suggestions helped in making the songs of the film better. I also thank him at this moment for this. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the producers, directors and others who gave me the opportunity to make my debut as a music composer through this film.” said.

The first look poster presents Priyanka Mohan as an innocent cop named Charulatha. She looks fit in the character and is seen flashing a beautiful smile on her face. The next instalment of last year’s hugely successful movie ‘DD Returns’ is here. Starring Santhanam as the protagonist once again, this newest addition to the series started in Chennai today (July 7) with a pooja.

Produced by Niharika Entertainment, The Show People and Handmade Films on a huge budget, this yet-untitled film will be presented by actor Arya.

S. Prem Anand who directed ‘DD Returns’ is helming this new film as well. Popular stars are going to play important roles. The title and cast of the movie will be announced soon.

Speaking about the film, director Prem Anand said, “DD Returns which was released in July last year was a huge success with great response from audience from all walks of life.
